sarielSariel was born from violence, the daughter of a human mother and a demon who came during an attack that left her village scarred. Her appearance made her parentage impossible to hide, and from childhood she carried the fear, suspicion and resentment that others attached to what she was.

She first turned toward faith because she wanted certainty that her choices could matter more than her blood. For a time, they did. Sariel served, learned and healed where she could, but years of rejection gradually hardened into anger. Eventually she fell in with darker company, where the traits others had feared became useful rather than shameful.

That descent gave her something she had rarely known before: belonging. It also gave her permission to stop caring what people thought of her, and for a while Sariel embraced the power that came with being feared.

Note: Nothing is set in stone, these are only suggested and partial details because Aranthaen characters are simply canvases for DMs to make their own!

Her return began when Lady Bune herself offered her a path back.

For Sariel, the significance was impossible to miss. Bune had once been something monstrous too. She had changed through restraint, sacrifice and repeated moral choice, and Sariel found in that history a form of redemption she could finally believe in. She did not need to become innocent. She needed to choose differently.

She eventually came to Aranthaes and entered the Church of the Mother, where she now serves as both healer and warrior. Her presence is striking: a woman who looks almost wholly demonic walking openly through the halls of a faith built around transformation, restraint and the belief that what someone once was does not decide what they must remain.

Many within the church see Sariel as living proof of Bune’s vision. Others remain wary of her past and of the anger that still sits close beneath the surface. Sariel accepts both reactions. She has no interest in pretending that changing direction erased what came before.

She is deeply compassionate toward the unwanted, the frightened and those judged by birth or appearance. She is also fiercely protective, and when someone vulnerable is threatened, the warrior in her emerges quickly. Her faith has taught her restraint, but it has never made her harmless.

Sariel carries her scars openly. Her blood has not changed, her past cannot be undone, and her temper has never entirely left her. What matters now is the choice she makes each day about what to do with all three.
