Ossian HarewoodOssian Harewood was born and raised in Aranthaes. His parents were both merchants, killed by bandits when Ossian was just a child. The attack left him permanently blind in one eye.

His grandfather, Commander Godwin Harewood, took him and his younger brother Galhert in and raised them as his own.

Despite his partial blindness, Ossian was determined to become a fighter and wished to follow his grandfather by joining the City Guard as soon as he was able. His proud grandfather trained him in swordplay and combat tactics, and Ossian applied on the day of his 16th birthday.

In spite of his family connection and his clear determination and bravery, Ossian’s application was turned down due to his disability – a decision which his Grandfather holds his former protege Eryndor accountable for to this day.

When wealthy merchant and senior city council member Orilia Thorne heard of this slight, she immediately offered Ossian a place in The Ironhearts, her private merchant police battalion, where he now serves as a captain.

Ossian has a reputation for being a fierce fighter and a natural leader. He is fiercely loyal to his grandfather and his patron Orilia, and will do whatever he can to protect them.

Features

Fighting Style (Protection). While wielding a shield, when a creature Ossian can see attacks a target within 5 ft. of him, he can use his reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll.
Captain of the Ironhearts. Ossian inspires loyalty in his unit; allies within 10 ft. gain +1 to attack rolls when fighting under his command.
Blind in One Eye. Ossian suffers disadvantage on ranged attacks beyond 30 ft. and on any ability checks requiring depth perception (e.g., judging distances, ranged Investigation checks).
