Orilia was born into a wealthy family of tiefling merchants, the Thornes, one of the few ‘true-born‘ Aranthean lineages. She learned the art of trade from a young age and quickly proved herself to be a skilled negotiator. As she grew older, Orilia began to develop a taste for risk and intrigue, rapidly growing her business by any means necessary.

Orilia’s business is now one of the largest and most successful in the city. She owns a network of textile mills, which produce high-quality fabrics that are sold throughout the city and beyond.

Orilia is always well-prepared and carries a variety of tools with her, including a set of lockpicks, a small knife, and a small stash of gold and gems. She also carries a few powerful items from her vast collection of magical items.

Note: Nothing is set in stone, these are only suggested and partial details because Aranthaen characters are simply canvases for DMs to make their own!

Orilia has developed a reputation for being a shrewd and savvy businesswoman, with a keen eye for spotting opportunities and making profitable deals.

In addition to her business success, Orilia has also amassed a great deal of political power in the city. She is a senior member of the city council, and has been known to use her influence to push through policies that benefit her business interests. She has also cultivated relationships with other powerful figures in the city, including heads of the church and leaders of the city’s major guilds.

Orilia’s power and influence in the city are not without controversy, however. Some accuse her of using underhanded tactics to get what she wants, and there are unsubstantiated rumors that she has been involved in criminal activity in the past. Despite this, Orilia remains a respected and feared figure in Aranthaes, and her business continues to thrive.

As sponsor of the largest battalion in Aranthaes’ private merchant police, Orilia has a significant amount of authority over the city’s commercial flow. She can use her influence to sway the actions of the merchant police to align with her business interests, allowing her to protect her own business ventures and those of her allies while targeting her rivals.

Orilia may also use the merchant police to investigate and monitor potential competitors, and could sabotage their operations if necessary. With her position of power and her additional connections to the City Guard through a friendship with their commander Eryndor, Orilia can exert significant control over the city and could use it to her advantage. However, this influence also makes her a target for those who feel threatened by her power and wealth and as such she is usually accompanied by her personal bodyguard, ‘Darkness‘.

Orilia’s recent rise to the position of governor of Aranthaes Mint was a result of her success in the textile business and her close relationship with the church. When the previous governor of the mint died suddenly, Holy Mother, the elected proxy for Lady Bune used this opportunity to influence the proceedings and install Orilia in the position.

Orilia was initially hesitant to take on the role, knowing it would require a significant investment of time and resources. However, Holy Mother convinced her that the benefits of the position would be well worth the effort. As governor of the mint, Orilia would have control over the production of the city’s gold coins and bars, giving her even greater influence over the city’s economy.

Orilia is always immaculately dressed, favoring high-quality fabrics and understated jewelry.
