Holy Mother is the elected figurehead of the Aranthaes church. Her role is that of a deity proxy, effectively the mortal embodiment of Lady Bune, in all aspects of the church’s day to day work.

Holy Mother sits in all governmental sessions, a bridge between church and state and is key in signing all new laws. She is treated by all Aranthaens as if she were Lady Bune herself, with the utmost in reverence and respect.

When Holy Mother speaks it is accepted as being the literal voice of Lady Bune, and despite being a proxy, the figure of Holy Mother is a position of the highest authority in the city.

Note: Nothing is set in stone, these are only suggested and partial details because Aranthaen characters are simply canvases for DMs to make their own!

As a commoner with no inherent magical abilities, fighting prowess or special skills, Holy Mother is protected at all times by three of the fiercest warriors in the city, the Mother’s Three – Alekto, Gaera and Tisi – 3 erinyes sent by Lady Bune herself many hundreds of years ago to guard Holy Mother.

The current Holy Mother is Isabeja Rures, a loyal follower of Lady Bune chosen for her strong faith, purity of heart and charisma. Isabeja comes from a humble background in Aranthaes Wynds and after being orphaned at a young age, she was taken in by a group of devout clerics in the Defenders of the Mother who raised her and taught her the ways of the church.

Despite her rough start in life, Isabeja possesses a natural leadership ability and has a way with words that inspires others to follow her. She is also known for her kindness and generosity towards those in need, which has won her the respect and admiration of many.

Isabeja takes her role as the Holy Mother very seriously and is dedicated to serving Lady Bune and spreading her teachings to the masses. She is well-versed in scripture and is able to deliver powerful, eloquent and inspiring sermons that touch the hearts of her listeners.

In terms of physical attributes, Isabeja is of average height and has a slender build. She has long, dark blonde hair and piercing blue eyes that seem to sparkle with an inner light. She wears the simple green cloak of Lady Bune’s clergy and wears a shimmering holy symbol around her neck, a fine embroidery of Lady Bune.

As a regular human commoner, Isabeja has no special abilities or powers, but her strong faith and unwavering commitment to Lady Bune make her a force to be reckoned with in the eyes of her followers.

Despite her relative weakness, Isabeja is protected by the embroidered talisman she wears, a unique magical item imbued with Lady Bune’s vitality. The “Face of the Lady” provides a +30 bonus to the wearer’s maximum hit points and regenerates 1d10 HP every turn – in Isabeja’s case up to a maximum of 36.

In addition, The Mother’s Three are able to cast a protective field around Holy Mother during times of danger.
