Sariel’s life began in tragedy, being born to a human mother and demon father, her new life being the aftermath of a murderous attack on her mother’s village in which the demon wiped out over half of the village’s population.
As a result of her mixed heritage, and because she was a constant physical reminder of that day of carnage, she was treated as an outcast by many in her community. Her mother was ostracized and eventually driven to suicide, leaving Sariel alone and struggling to survive.
Determined to make something of herself despite her difficult upbringing, Sariel turned to religion and found solace in the worship of a deity of healing and protection. She devoted herself to her faith, studying diligently and taking on the role of a healer.
But despite her best efforts, Sariel was never fully accepted by her fellow humans. She was always viewed with suspicion and fear, and some even accused her of using her healing powers for dark purposes.
Eventually, Sariel’s frustrations and anger led her down a darker path. She began to experiment with darker forms of magic, and eventually made a pact with her father, a powerful demon lord, in exchange for greater power.
Just as Sariel’s life was beginning to take a truly dark route she had a fateful encounter with Lady Bune, which would turn her life around once again.
When the cleric first met the benevolent demoness, she could not help but feel drawn to her. Sariel saw in Bune a kindred spirit, a being with a complicated past that was often misunderstood by others. Lady Bune saw in Sariel a potential ally – a powerful cleric whose abilities could be useful to her.
As they talked, Lady Bune shared with Sariel her own experiences from when she first journeyed to the material realm – that of being judged and rejected by others because of her demonic heritage. She explained how she had learned to embrace her powers and turn them into a force for good, building a city where beings of every alignment and all races believed in her vision.
Sariel listened intently, and something stirred within her. She realized that, like Lady Bune, she had been judged and rejected by others because of her teifling heritage. She had turned to darkness as a way of protecting herself, but deep down she knew that it was not the path she wanted to follow.
Inspired by Lady Bune’s example, Sariel began to see the potential for good within herself. She realized that her powers as a cleric were a gift, one that she could use to help others and make a positive difference in the world. With Lady Bune’s guidance, Sariel turned her back on darkness and embraced the light once again.
Moving to the city of Aranthaes, Sariel found herself surrounded by fellow tieflings, like-minded souls with one foot in the dark and one in the light.
Over time, Sariel became a respected member of the church of Lady Bune, and her reputation as a powerful cleric and skilled warrior grew. She knew that her past would always be a part of her, but with Lady Bune’s guidance, she had found a way to use it to help others and bring about positive change in the world.
