Godwin HarewoodGodwin Harewood served in the Aranthaes City Guard for over 40 years, eventually rising to the rank of commander. He retired from active duty at the age of 65, but still keeps tabs on what’s going on in the city through his network of former colleagues and friends, including his past pupil Eryndor.

After his daughter and her husband were killed in a bandit ambush, Godwin took his grandchildren Ossian and Galhert into his home and raised them as his own.

He has a gruff exterior, but is fiercely protective of his grandchildren and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe – he is investigating their parent’s murder and is close to tracking down the perpetrators.

Despite his advanced age, he’s still in good physical shape and can hold his own in a fight.

Greatsword. +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6+4) slashing; reroll 1s and 2s on damage dice (Great Weapon Fighting).
Shield Bash. +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d4+4) bludgeoning and the target must succeed on a DC 16 Strength save or be shoved 5 ft. (non-magical, replaces one attack).

Features

Fighting Style (Great Weapon Fighting). When Godwin rolls a 1 or 2 on a damage die for a melee attack with a two-handed weapon, he can reroll the die (must use the new roll).
Second Wind (1/rest). Bonus action; Godwin regains 1d10+11 HP.
Action Surge (1/rest). Godwin can take one additional action on his turn.
Indomitable (1/rest). Godwin can reroll a failed saving throw.
Grandfatherly Wisdom. Once per short rest, an ally within 10 ft. may add 1d4 to a Wisdom check after rolling (but before results are known).
