As second in command of the City Guard, Field Commander Kosrakir, Protector of Aranthaes, is responsible for security of the island itself – its approaches, its villages, and the long, vulnerable stretches between safety and wilderness.

A tiefling, Kosrakir bears his heritage openly but without the ornament that’s fashionable in the city. His horns are scarred, his battle-tarnished plate armour functional rather than ceremonial. Those who serve under him know him as direct, uncompromising, and relentlessly fair.

He does not tolerate disorder, but neither does he rule through fear. Orders are clear, expectations explicit, and discipline consistent. In Kosrakir’s command, guards know where they stand.

Note: Nothing is set in stone, these are only suggested and partial details because Aranthaen characters are simply canvases for DMs to make their own!

His duties place him constantly in motion. Coastal patrols, border watch rotations, supply escorts, and rural security all fall under his oversight. When trouble stirs outside the city – banditry, cult movement, smuggling, or something worse – it is Kosrakir who responds first. He understands that threats rarely announce themselves at the gate; they grow quietly in the margins, where vigilance is weakest.

Kosrakir’s faith expresses itself through obligation rather than ritual. He believes that protection is a sacred duty, and that neglect is a moral failure.

Though he respects the Church of the Mother and works closely with its Defenders when necessary, his loyalty is first to the people under his charge – guards and civilians alike. He has little patience for politics, but he understands their necessity and navigates them with blunt honesty rather than subtlety.

Among the Guard, Kosrakir is known for one unshakable principle: no one is expendable. Patrols are planned carefully, retreats are permitted when survival demands it, and losses are accounted for personally. He remembers all of the fallen’s names, and all their faces.
