Thaelema’s faith has never been loud. She does not preach in the streets or preside over ceremonies, and few outside the poorest districts of Aranthaes would recognise her by name.

Yet to many, she is the most tangible expression of the Mother’s mercy – the one who ensures that hunger is answered with food, and despair with warmth.

Originally trained as a cleric, Thaelema chose an unusual path within the Church. After years of service tending the sick and distributing alms, she set aside most formal duties and retrained as a cook.

What began as practical necessity became vocation. She learned how to stretch ingredients without thinning nourishment, how to prepare meals in volume without losing care, and how to organise kitchens that could feed hundreds daily without waste.

Note: Nothing is set in stone, these are only suggested and partial details because Aranthaen characters are simply canvases for DMs to make their own!

As Mother Superior – Steward of the Basket, Thaelema oversees the Church’s charitable work across Aranthaes.

Soup kitchens, food distribution, emergency relief, and festival provision all fall under her quiet authority. She manages supply routes, coordinates volunteers, and ensures that Bune’s Bounty reaches those who need it most – not only in times of crisis, but every day.

She does not fight. Thaelema carries no weapon, wears no armour, and has never been known to raise her voice. Her magic is reserved for healing, blessing food, easing exhaustion, and keeping those around her on their feet. Among the poor she is greeted with familiarity rather than reverence, and she accepts it gladly.

Within the Church hierarchy, Thaelema’s position is treated with deep respect. Rilith values her insight, Ermile trusts her logistics, and Vyvaen ensures her kitchens are never threatened.

Thaelema herself claims no authority beyond what is needed to keep people fed. She believes the Mother is present wherever a meal is shared freely – and that faith, like bread, is meant to be broken and given away.
