Rilith Jol’gonas

Rilith Jol’gonas was born to a tiefling mother and human father in the slums of Aranthaws Wynds. Despite the challenges of her upbringing, Rilith showed an early aptitude for the divine, and her raw talent was quickly recognized by the Church of the Mother. She was taken in as a novice and began her training as a cleric with the Mother’s Children.

Over the years, Rilith rose through the ranks of the church and became a powerful force for good in the city. She is known for her compassion and her unwavering dedication to her faith, as well as her shrewd political instincts.

As the head of the Defenders of the Mother, Rilith has a significant amount of influence over the city’s affairs, and she is widely respected both by the people, the city council and by the other powerful factions in Aranthaes.

Character: Despite her high rank in the church, Rilith is always very modest and kind to those around her. She is hard to dislike and even her rivals in the city’s merchant and political classes have a great deal of time for her thanks to her wit and intelligence. That’s not to say she doesn’t have her darker moments and when she’s angry, it’s clear to see her tiefling heritage.

Appearance: Rilith is a beautiful tiefling woman with pale creamy skin, golden hair that falls in loose waves down her back, and sparkling green/gray eyes. She keeps her small horn nubs hidden beneath her hair and would pass for human if not for the lightest covering of golden scales on her neck and flashes of green in her eyes when angered. She wears the fur-edged robes of her high station within the church and a light mithril armor below her clothes.

Personality: Rilith is charming and gregarious with a sharp mind as wise as she’s intelligent. She can more than hold her own in any social setting, keeping people around her enthralled with anecdotes and her knowledge on many subjects. Much of this is a front however, as below the surface she is usually deeply worried about her role in Aranthaes, the growing struggles the city faces and the responsibilities on her shoulders. Sometimes it can all get too much and when it does she will leave the city to find a quiet forest clearing or peaceful spot in Aranthaes Fields and regain composure.

Allies: Rilith is a favorite of Holy Mother and has the backing of the entire Defenders of the Mother, not only because she is their head but because so many of the order genuinely like her – she is mentor, tutor and confidant to many and has been instrumental in the success of the order’s high ranking members.

Enemies: As head of the Defenders of the Mother, Rilith can be a focal point for anger from wealthy merchants who feel the organization’s methods can be heavy-handed and invasive, taking their profits under The Gift of Plenty, the church’s redistribution of wealth from the richest pockets to those with the least.

Goals: Rilith wants nothing more than a peaceful and happy city under the glory of Lady Bune.
